What should I bring to my first appointment?
Please bring a list of any medications you are taking. If you have dental benefits, be sure to bring your dental insurance card, along with a booklet detailing your benefits (every insurance is different).
What should I expect to occur at my first appointment?
The first thing we’ll ask you to do is to fill out a simple medical questionnaire. If you have a hygiene appointment scheduled, you will also have a full dentist exam including necessary x-rays and a cleaning. If you have a single specific concern (like a toothache) we will do our best to identify the problem and address the issue at this time.
How much will my dental treatment cost?
It depends on the treatment being performed, however, we do follow the current BC Dental Fee Guide. We are always happy to provide you with an estimate prior to scheduling your service.
Does Nanoose Family Dentistry accept my insurance plan?
We accept most insurances. As a courtesy, we submit treatment to the insurance company on your behalf. However, there are some insurance companies who require you to pay for treatment and then submit it to the insurance company yourself. In every case, you are responsible to understand your individual insurance policy, and are responsible for any and all costs that your insurance company does not cover.
When will I be billed for my dental treatment?
Payment is due at the time of your appointment.
Is it necessary to have x-rays taken?
Yes. To offer complete and ethical care, we follow the standards recommended by the College of Dental Surgeons. We are aware of the risks of radiation exposure so we make decisions to minimize your risks. Our digital x-ray equipment allows us to minimize radiation while still maintaining thorough care. The negligible amount of radiation received is far outweighed by the benefits of the information received. Receiving recent x-rays from previous dental offices may reduce the need for new x-rays.
